Rulings & Regulations

With FIFA being the govening body that runs the world of football they have to make some rules and regulations on to what is wrong and what is right, on how to play and how not to play and on how to act before, during and after a game. For example, FIFA new rule that came into effect in the past couple of months, where they have banned heading the ball in youth game (under 12 years of age) in an effort to prevent concussion. If a player does decide to head the ball it is an automatic free-kick for the other team.  With a growing concern for the safety of children  FIFA’s  ruling does not seem to have any repercussions at the moment. The one worry some coaches have is that the rule could kill the competitive nature of the game, by making it so younger players are more timid as they move forward in their sporting careers.  Another ruling FIFA has passed is, they have also allow the use of turbans during a game.  With a growing fan base in the Middle East and one of the future World Cups being held in Qatar, this ruling will only help the sport grow in the Middle East especially, but also around the world.  FIFA originally had the ban on the use of turbans because they felt that turbans could be harmful and posed a threat to the other players on the field.  FIFA was not planning  to change it until a group of non-Sikh soccer players in Montreal, Canada wore turbans in the regular league matches to protest against FIFA’s ruling.  This arose the debate about the use of turbans until FIFA finally did pass the rule to move the sport forward.
